wild mountain honey

if you lay still enough on your bed, you can feel it moving from your heartbeat. it's weird.
the lights need to be off & you need to be listening to 'the undivided self' for this to work best.

ralph waldo emerson

earth laughs in flowers

cameron & i bought a house in watts

it all comes down to simple mathematics. a really beautiful relationship is a once in a lifetime thing; & i've already had mine.
let me rephrase that to: i am currently living through mine.

george inness died while in scotland in 1894. according to his son, he was viewing the sunset, when he threw up his hands into the air & exclaimed "my god! oh, how beautiful," fell to the ground, & died minutes later.

this is so profound, it is beyond me.

good oak, the geese return, & his ramblings

there are two spiritual dangers in not owning a farm. one is the danger of supposing that breakfast comes from the grocery, and the other that heat comes from a furnace.
to avoid the first danger, one should plant a garden, preferably where there is no grocer to confuse the issue.
the avoid the second, well... you know.

we spend so much time seeing, but not really seeing. eating, but not really eating. listening, but not really listening.

today my beloved left me to go back home for his break. feels like he's been gone for ages, but it hasn't even been one full day yet. my goal for today was to do lots of work for my anthro final. what did i end up doing? i packed my backpack with everything i needed for a successful study session at the library & ended up wasting two hrs wandering around different floors of the library, riding the elevator up & down, walking to the arbor, & walking around the lagoon.

so i've been to some cool places. i can't describe them & i don't have pictures but my shoes are real muddy & my legs are sore from trekking up & down mountains.

yesterday we spent our last day with a short trip to the forest. originally we were going to go to the beach, i think, to go find snowy plovers (their mating season has begun!) they are adorable creatures & there's only about a thousand or so left on the planet (?), so cherish them.

spring also marks the blossoming of this beautiful tree! a redbud, my new love & santa barbara is filled with them.

it is at this moment of each year that i wish i were a muskrat, eye-deep in the marsh.
